Founded in 1919, the Green Bay Packers was formed by Curly Lambeau and George Calhoun. They gathered a group of young athletes in a dingy editorial room of the old Green Bay Press-Gazette building and organized a football team. The name was derived from the team’s sponsor the Indian Packing Company and later the Acme Packing Company hence “the Packers”. The Packers will go on win 3 Super Bowls – SB I (1967 against the Kansas City Chiefs), SB II (1968 against the Oakland Raiders), and SB XXXI (1997 against the New England Patriots), and 9 NFL Championship titles (pre 1966). They have 19 division titles starting in 1936 – present and had made 24 playoff appearances. They created the likes of Brett Favre QB now with the Minnesota Vikings and the famous Vince Lombardi Coach. The Green Bay Packers current home field is in Lambeau Field Green Bay, Wisconsin and the team’s jersey colors are Green, Gold & White.
